Summary
The VP of Operations directs overall manufacturing operations, ensuring the achievement of production objectives at the lowest cost consistent with the company quality standards and customer delivery requirements. In addition, this position will oversee Quality, Safety, Warehouse, Fulfillment and Freight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments and directly supervise the manufacturing staff to ensure the achievement of production objectives at the lowest cost consistent with company quality requirements.
  • Establish and review production schedules to ensure timely delivery of customer products.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements in methods and processes to increase productivity and quality.
  • Develop plans for the maximum utilization of materials, machines and employees.
  • Review production costs and product quality; modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Develop and recommend plant capital and operating budgets to ensure conformance to budgets.
  • Develop and review policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental and various regulatory agencies.
  • Enforce safety and work rules and company housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality, safety and sanitation regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the manufacturing of company products, a Quality Assurance team, Fulfillment and Warehousing team and the freight department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering, or like experience. MBA or related Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years related work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification/experience required
  • Advanced computer literacy to include Word, Excel and Outlook
  • General knowledge of company products and procedures
  • Working knowledge of account methods and cost control procedures
  • Thermoforming experience a plus
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, customer specifications, general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and other employees of the organization
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as algebraic formulas, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
