Job description

If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves with financial modeling, FP&A, forecasting, and investor reporting while leading and developing an accounting team, this could be your perfect long-term home. This is your opportunity to build your path to CFO, leading the finance and accounting function of a growing real estate investment company.

You will work directly with the operations and acquisitions teams to provide the strategic financial information needed to evaluate opportunities and keep the finance function operating effectively, with the support of a Controller performing the day to day accounting. There is no corporate bureaucracy here. You will have the autonomy to ask tough questions, influence business decisions, mentor your team, and build the department alongside a close-knit leadership team where your influence matters.

VP of Finance – Your Impact

You will lead the finance, accounting, FP&A, and investor reporting functions of the business.

  • Oversee the accounting function (Controller, Property Accountant, AP), reviewing their financial reports month end close for accuracy
  • Perform analysis of the financial statements, identifying variances, investigating and reporting to leadership
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, forecasts and financial models, budget vs. actual reports and analysis
  • Develop financial models, forecasts and reporting that guide strategic business decisions
  • Partner closely with executive leadership, operations, and acquisitions to evaluate financial performance and future opportunities
  • Lead investor reporting activities, preparing schedules and supporting financial information for investor communications
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison with external CPA firms for reporting and tax support
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, automation, reporting processes, and operational efficiency

VP of Finance & Accounting – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit)

You have:

  • Prior experience leading finance department functions – you enjoy mentoring and are excited to grow and develop your team
  • Leadership presence – you build trust with internal and external teams quickly and staff trust you as a leader
  • Prior experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A), forecasting, budgeting, and complex financial modeling
  • Very strong MS Excel skills – you love a good financial model and complex spreadsheets
  • A mind for challenging assumptions – you look at something and naturally ask “is this correct?”

You Might Have:

  • Prior experience in real estate investment, property management, development, multifamily, or multi entity accounting or finance
  • Exposure to Yardi ERP
  • A background in public accounting auditing

VP of Finance – Benefits for You

Your compensation will be $165,000 to $185,000 annually, plus discretionary bonus.
