Job description

VP of Marketing

Civitas Learning is looking for a highly professional and confident individual to join our Marketing team. As VP of Marketing, you'll own Civitas Learning's marketing function end-to-end - setting the strategic direction, running the organization, and building the team that carries it out. You'll be the owner of brand, demand generation, and customer engagement strategy, translating company-level growth objectives into a marketing plan that materially moves revenue, pipeline, and market position. You'll operate as a peer to Sales, Product, and Customer Development leadership, and as a key voice in company-wide strategic planning.

What you will do as a VP of Marketing:

  • Own and evolve Civitas Learning's marketing strategy, setting multi-year direction in partnership with the executive team and translating company goals into an actionable marketing roadmap.
  • Build, resource, and govern the marketing organization - owning budget planning, vendor relationships, and operational infrastructure across the function.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing marketing leadership team, building depth across brand, demand gen, product marketing, and marketing operations.
  • Set the demand generation and pipeline strategy across channels, holding the function accountable to pipeline, acquisition, and revenue-contribution targets.
  • Own brand strategy and market positioning for Civitas Learning, elevating the company's presence and thought leadership across the higher education market.
  • Serve as the point of alignment with Sales, Product, and Customer Development leadership, ensuring marketing strategy is embedded in company-wide go-to-market planning.
  • Bring a point of view on market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer insight to leadership-level conversations, shaping company strategy beyond marketing alone.
  • Define the marketing measurement framework - establishing the KPIs, ROI models, and reporting cadence the executive team uses to evaluate marketing performance.

What we are looking for:

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, with a substantial track record in SaaS, software, or technology U.S companies
  • 5+ years leading marketing organizations, including experience building and scaling teams through significant company growth.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a marketing P&L, including budget planning, resource allocation, and vendor/agency management at scale.
  • Deep experience with brand management and content management systems, with a track record of elevating brand equity in a competitive market.
  • Proven partnership with product, sales, and customer success functions, and comfort operating as a cross-functional partner.
  • A track record of building and executing integrated marketing strategies that produce measurable, board-visible business results.
  • Direct experience with the U.S. higher education market is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Marketing Automation Platforms (MAPs) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Command of marketing analytics and attribution platforms, with the ability to translate data into strategic decisions for the executive team

What you'll get:

  • Competitive salary
  • Full benefits (paid medical, dental, vision, 401k match)
  • 100% remote work environment with the ability to work from anywhere (availability during U.S. business hours required)
  • Unlimited, flexible PTO
  • Every other Friday off
  • Monthly stipend for home office, professional development, or wellness expenses
  • Generous parental leave policy
  • Inclusive reimbursement fund for reproductive health, adoption, or gender affirmation treatment
