Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our Life Sales and Distribution team as a Vice President, leading the Network Marketing Organization (NMO) Channel!

About the role

The Vice President, Network Marketing Organization (NMO) Sales will lead Symetra's Life Insurance distribution strategy and sales organization within the NMO channel. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Life Distribution, this executive leader will be responsible for driving profitable growth, strengthening strategic distribution partnerships, and building the organizational capabilities necessary to support Symetra's long-term growth objectives.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Symetra's NMO business while partnering across the enterprise to enhance distributor experience, influence strategic initiatives, and drive scalable growth.

What you will do

Lead Growth and Distribution Strategy

  • Execute and build upon the strategic vision and multi-year growth plan for Symetra's Life Insurance NMO channel.
  • Drive sales growth, market expansion, producer engagement, and distribution partner development.
  • Identify new opportunities to increase market penetration and strengthen Symetra's competitive position within the NMO marketplace.
  • Establish and execute annual business plans, sales objectives, and growth strategies aligned with enterprise priorities.

Build and Lead a High-Performing Sales Organization

  • Lead a national sales organization consisting of Regional Vice Presidents, Internal Sales Consultants, Relationship Managers, and Sales Support professionals.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, coaching, and performance excellence.
  • Develop talent, strengthen leadership capabilities, and build scalable organizational infrastructure to support growth.

Strengthen Strategic Distribution Partnerships

  • Serve as the executive sponsor and primary relationship leader for key NMO partners.
  • Collaborate with NMOs to drive producer activation, recruitment, productivity, and product adoption.
  • Represent Symetra at industry conferences, leadership forums, and key distributor events.
  • Advocate for distributor needs while balancing enterprise priorities and business objectives.

Influence Enterprise Success

  • Serve as the voice of the NMO channel within Symetra's Life Insurance leadership team.
  • Partner across Operations, Underwriting, Product Management, Marketing, Technology, Licensing & Contracting, Compliance, and Customer Service to improve distributor experience and support growth.
  • Translate field and distributor feedback into actionable business recommendations and strategic initiatives.

Collaborate Across Distribution Channels

  • Partner closely with leaders across Symetra's multi-channel distribution organization.
  • Align channel strategies and initiatives to support enterprise growth objectives.
  • Share market intelligence, distributor insights, and best practices while helping optimize distribution effectiveness across the organization.

Compensation

Base Salary: $200,000 annual base salary plus eligibility forincentive compensation

Who you are

  • High school diploma required.
  • Advanced degree and/or industry designations such as CLU, ChFC, CFP, or similar credentials.
  • FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 licenses, or the ability to obtain within an established timeframe following hire.
  • 15+ years of insurance or financial services experience, including significant experience within life insurance distribution.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading sales organizations within the NMO, IMO, or related life insurance distribution channels.
  • Proven track record of building strategic partnerships and delivering sustained sales growth.
  • Experience managing field sales, internal sales, relationship management, and sales support organizations.
  • Experience operating effectively within a multi-channel distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of life insurance products, underwriting processes, distribution economics, and producer engagement models.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading national distribution organizations.
  • Experience launching, scaling, or transforming distribution channels.
  • Carrier-side life insurance leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of digital distribution strategies and sales enablement technologies.
