Job Summary:
The Vice President of Sales for Lumber and Building Materials is a key leadership role responsible for driving the overall revenue growth, sales strategy, and market expansion within the lumber and building materials industry. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in sales leadership, strong industry knowledge, and a proven track record of building and managing high-performing sales teams. The VP of Sales will collaborate closely with executive leadership to align sales initiatives with the company's strategic goals and will be instrumental in achieving the company's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Revenue Growth:
    • Set and achieve ambitious sales targets, ensuring consistent revenue growth.
    • Drive the sales process from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring a strong sales pipeline.
    • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to optimize sales efforts and maximize profitability.
  2. Sales Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
    • Develop a sales process with short, mid, and long-term measurable goals.
    • Identify new market opportunities and segments to expand the company's market share in the lumber and building materials industry.
    • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to continuously refine the sales approach.
  3. Team Leadership & Development:
    • Responsible for finding local talent and working with our internal recruiter to build a team of OSR and ISR.
    • Create an onboarding schedule to welcome new members to the team
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
      1. Design actionable and measurable short, mid, and long-term stepping stones to develop OSR and ISR.
    • Provide regular coaching and feedback to sales managers and representatives to enhance their skills and performance.
    • Implement training and development programs to keep the sales team informed of industry trends, products, and selling techniques.
  4. Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, door/window and cabinet distributors, and partners within the lumber and building materials industry.
    • Establish a simple way to connect with customers on a regular basis that is scaleable throughout the company
    • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty by addressing customer needs and resolving any issues promptly.
    • Oversee contract negotiations and ensure favorable terms that benefit the company.
  5. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership:
    • Collaborate with other departments, including purchasing/marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure alignment on business objectives and customer requirements.
    • Represent the sales function in executive meetings, providing insights and recommendations on sales strategies and market conditions.
  6. Budgeting & Reporting:
    • Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to achieve sales targets utilizing existing sales tools and dashboards.
    • Provide regular reports to the executive team on sales performance, market trends, and key initiatives.
    • Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement in sales processes.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred. Will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in sales leadership, with at least 5 years in the lumber and building materials industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of the lumber and building materials market, including key players, products, and trends.
  • Experience in leading and developing large sales teams across multiple regions.
