Senior Red Hat Systems Engineer / Linux Engineering Lead 

What you will be doing:

Seasoned Senior Red Hat Systems Engineer with over 10 years of deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), specializing in large-scale infrastructure design, automation, performance optimization, and enterprise platform engineering across on-prem (VMware) and cloud (AWS) environments. 

Recognized for combining advanced Linux engineering skills with strong leadership, driving operational excellence, mentoring teams, and delivering resilient, secure, and highly automated infrastructure solutions aligned with business and regulatory requirements. 

Professional Summary 

Expert in end-to-end Linux lifecycle management, including patching, OS upgrades, image creation, and large-scale deployments. Extensive experience with Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, and enterprise tooling to automate infrastructure, reduce operational overhead, and improve system reliability. 

Strong background in performance engineering, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and business continuity, with hands-on expertise in VMware and AWS architecture, including networking, storage, and compute optimization. 

Proven ability to lead initiatives, troubleshoot complex cross-domain issues (OS, network, virtualization, cloud), and collaborate effectively with DevOps, Security, and Application teams. 

What we're looking for:

Linux / Red Hat Engineering 

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)  
  • Deep knowledge of Linux internals, kernel behavior, system performance, and OS-level troubleshooting  
  • Enterprise patching and lifecycle management (OS + third-party software)  
  • OS upgrades, golden image creation, and large-scale deployments  
  • Creation and management of VMware-based appliance images  
  • Strong expertise with Red Hat Satellite for provisioning, patching, and compliance  
  • Red Hat licensing across VMware and AWS environments  
  • Hands-on experience with Veritas Cluster (on VMware and AWS) 

Automation & DevOps 

  • Advanced expertise in Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) including:  
  • Playbook development and optimization  
  • Workflow automation and orchestration  
  • Infrastructure-as-Code practices  
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python  
  • Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines  

Cloud & Virtualization 

VMware 

  • Deep understanding of:  
  • CPU, memory, storage, and performance tuning  
  • VLANs, networking, and virtual infrastructure design  
  • Experience deploying and managing enterprise workloads on VMware  
  • Familiarity with SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) integrations (plus)  

AWS 

  • Strong knowledge of:  
  • VPCs, routing, and traffic flows  
  • Transit Gateways (TGWs)  
  • Network security and inspection firewalls

  • System Security: Implement security controls, manage vulnerabilities, and enforce compliance standards  
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve complex system, network, and platform issues with deep root cause analysis  
  • Collaboration: Partner with DevOps, Security, and Engineering teams for platform integration and improvements  
  • Mentorship: Guide to junior engineers and maintain high-quality technical documentation  
  • License Management skills.  Working with quotes, vendor proposals, RFPs, and working with Vendor Management team to license procure and audit license use.  Quarterly and yearly license assessments.
