Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Global Director, Market Strategy is responsible for designing and executing global market research that defines the market dynamics and customer requirements of the HVAC, Refrigeration and Industrial target markets, and initiating and orchestrating the development of integrated global/regional strategies that efficiently leverage BAC’s investments and assets.  This position identifies segments in the market to target and possible go-to market strategies to gain access to them. Also, this position develops, maintains, and analyzes BAC’s competitor strategies, recent acquisitions, technology portfolio, and go-to market strategies to support BAC’s strategy development.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plan, develop and lead market research as necessary to establish clear data-supported market dynamics, including customer segmentation, buying criteria, competitive analysis and positioning, channels to market, and support requirements.
  • Track and analyze market share and other metrics for all relevant competitors on a global and regional basis.
  • Work with Global VP, Marketing to establish metrics and processes to identify competitors’ strategies and quantifiably evaluate their success.
  • Lead the annual strategic planning process for BAC including coordination between regions, functional areas and GLT, creation of presentation materials, manage schedule and planning process with the President and VP of Marketing.
  • Collaborate closely with regional marketing to establish local BAC alignment and leverage regional teams/resources.
  • Identify and document leading factors and trends that are influencing market dynamics.
  • Find, track, and evaluate business development opportunities for possible investment opportunity.
  • Leverage marketing tools and methodologies (i.e. SWOT, Five Forces, focus groups, surveys, etc.) to establish foundational fact-base market and competitor analysis.
  • Initiate and propose well-developed and data-supported global strategies that carefully balance global and regional interests and sensitivities.
  • Work with the Global Vice President of Marketing to align regional executive support of proposed strategies, and work with the global leadership team to establish global market, product, and functionally integrated strategies.
  • Lead global cross-functional teams (HVAC, Refrigeration, Industrial Market Councils) to develop/propose short and long-term functional strategies aligned with global objectives, while also developing members’ market knowledge, strategic skills, and business acumen.
  • Other duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Global Director, Market Strategy will report to the Global Vice President, Marketing.   As part of the Sales & Marketing department, the Global Director, Market Strategy will have significant interactions with all levels of the organization globally.    At the direction of the Global Vice President, Marketing, the Global Director, Market Strategy works closely with senior regional executives, marketing and sales leadership to define shared market dynamics while documenting clear regional differences that drive local market behavior.   This Director will manage and develop direct reports within the global team at a variety of levels within the organization.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, research, or engineering, with MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, product management or business management with preference in HVAC, industrial refrigeration, or industrial process cooling markets.
  • Strong leadership, communication, research, strategic, planning, presentation, and execution skills.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Demonstrated global mindset and excellent teamwork skills
  • Strong technical acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

BAC Hiring Compensation Range $154,100- $264,000
