At BNY, our culture allows us to run our company better and enables employees' growth and success. As a leading global financial services company at the heart of the global financial system, we influence nearly 20% of the world's investible assets. Recognized as a top destination for innovators, BNY is where bold ideas meet advanced technology and exceptional talent. Together, we power the future of finance - and this is what #LifeAtBNY is all about. Join us and be part of something extraordinary.
We're seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Full-Stack Developer to join our Fund Accounting and Investor Solutions team. This role is located in Boston, MA.
In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Development of end-end delivery of scalable, multi-tier applications: architecture/design, development, test automation, CI/CD, deployment, and production support with real-time monitoring and alerting.
  • Translate business and automation needs into robust technical solutions; collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and agile teams to define scope, prioritize work, and deliver high-quality software.
  • Design and build RESTful APIs and microservices; ensure performance, reliability, observability, and secure coding practices across services and UI layers.
  • Drive platform resiliency, availability, and integrity by instituting operational runbooks, on-call practices, logging/metrics/tracing, and rapid incident response.
  • Champion engineering excellence: coding standards, code reviews, static analysis, test coverage, and release discipline; mentor teammates and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Integrate AI and emerging technologies (e.g., LLM APIs, prompt engineering, agentic frameworks) to enhance client and employee experiences and accelerate delivery.
  • Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap; make build/buy decisions; influence patterns for event-driven systems, rules/workflows, caching, and distributed systems.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional full-stack development experience, with demonstrated strength across both backend and frontend.
  • Backend: Expert-level Java 17+, 5+ years with Spring/Spring Boot; microservices architecture; REST API design and implementation.
  • Frontend: Angular 14+ (or React/JavaScript) with modern UI patterns, state management, and reusable component design.
  • Messaging/eventing: Hands-on experience; Kafka preferred.
  • Testing and quality: Proficient with unit and integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Gherkin, Cucumber); code quality/static analysis using tools like SonarQube; exposure to Veracode or Section Experience in using Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
  • DevOps and CI/CD: Strong command of Git and GitLab workflows (merge requests, CI/CD integration, GitOps principles); Docker; infrastructure-as-code fundamentals; blue-green/feature-flag release strategies.
  • Observability and logging: SLF4J/Log4j; log aggregation; metrics/tracing; experience with tools such as Splunk.
  • Data: Familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL stores; solid understanding of data modeling for microservices.
  • Ways of working: Agile/Scrum experience; collaborative tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Slack); strong problem-solving, communication, pair programming and team collaboration skills.
  • AI assisted development: experience in using coding assistants like Github Copilot/Claude Code/Cursor/Windsurf and others.
