Location: Lawrence University - Appleton, WI
Schedule: Full-time, in-person. Hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings/weekends for special events.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment, the Assistant Vice President of Admission Recruitment serves as the senior leader responsible for the University's undergraduate recruitment enterprise. The AVP provides leadership and oversight for all recruitment activities, ensuring the effective execution of enrollment goals through the development, management, and performance of the admission recruitment team. As a member of the VP's Enrollment Leadership Team, the AVP establishes expectations, priorities, and accountability measures for recruitment staff while fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, and student-centered service. The AVP serves as the primary leader responsible for recruitment execution, territory management, counselor development, and enrollment pipeline growth.
This position collaborates closely with campus partners and enrollment leaders to ensure recruitment efforts align with institutional goals and market opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on enrollment outcomes and organizational effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities
Recruitment Leadership
  • Provide leadership and direction for the University's undergraduate recruitment efforts.
  • Develop and execute territory-based recruitment plans.
  • Establish annual recruitment goals and performance metrics.
  • Monitor recruitment outcomes and adjust tactics to maximize results.
  • Oversee recruitment travel strategy and counselor deployment.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Vice President for Enrollment on recruitment-related opportunities and challenges.

Staff Leadership & Development
  • Directly supervise admission counselors and recruitment staff.
  • Conduct ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Develop training programs and professional development opportunities that strengthen recruitment effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and student-centered service.
  • Support professional growth and leadership development within the admission team.

Territory Management
  • Oversee territory assignments and recruitment strategies.
  • Evaluate territory performance and market opportunities.
  • Guide counselors in relationship-building with schools, counselors, and community partners.
  • Ensure consistent and effective territory management practices.

Recruitment Operations & Enrollment Outcomes
  • Oversee recruitment travel planning and counselor deployment.
  • Monitor enrollment funnel performance as it relates to recruitment activities.
  • Ensure effective implementation of recruitment initiatives and enrollment programs.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support enrollment objectives.
  • Represent Lawrence University at key recruitment events and professional organizations as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least seven years of progressive leadership admission experience as a seasoned professional, with demonstrated success in meeting recruitment and enrollment goals.
