Purpose
The Vice President, Facilities Management provides global leadership for the Bank's Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) strategy, governance, performance, and critical environments mandate. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Real Estate & Corporate Services, the Vice President leads a global team accountable for governing a single IFM provider and overseeing IFM and ancillary services across the Bank's footprint, including office, retail, and critical facilities assets spanning approximately 24 million square feet in 30 countries. The role establishes enterprise standards, strategy, governance, and risk oversight while partnering with Senior Business leaders and Country Heads to enable consistent, scalable, and high-quality execution globally. Success in this role requires deep experience managing outsourced service delivery at scale, including strong commercial discipline, service provider governance, performance management, contract oversight, and the ability to lead through transition and change.
Accountabilities
- Establish and lead the global mandate, standards, and governance for workplace operations, workplace experience, mail and distribution, hospitality, food services, operations support, access management, and related critical environment services.
- Design and embed the IFM operating model to provide each Line of Business with dedicated support, clear governance, and consistent service delivery, while effectively managing outsourced services across a global portfolio.
- Build trusted partnerships across Business Lines and Corporate Functions, aligning IFM decisions with headcount planning, investment priorities, organizational change, and enterprise transformation.
- Develop and execute forward-looking global Real Estate and IFM standards and governance models that support the Bank's business objectives, growth priorities, efficiency goals, and evolving workplace requirements.
- Oversee the reliability, resilience, and performance of critical building infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, fire and life safety, security, HVAC, power, and related systems that support business continuity and operational stability.
- Lead enterprise facilities planning, capital prioritization, lifecycle asset management, and infrastructure renewal programs to optimize long-term asset performance, cost-effectiveness, and service quality.
- Establish performance disciplines, including service-level agreements, key performance indicators, operational reporting, vendor scorecards, commercial frameworks, and continuous improvement routines to drive accountability, measurable outcomes, and service consistency at scale.
- Provide executive oversight of major vendors, outsourced partners, and contractor relationships, ensuring contractual obligations, service standards, risk requirements, financial commitments, and co-employment considerations are effectively managed across geographies.
- Strengthen emergency preparedness, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity protocols for facilities and critical environments, with clear escalation paths and regional governance.
- Advance sustainability, energy management, accessibility, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives aligned with enterprise commitments, local requirements, and industry best practices.
- Lead a customer-focused culture that deepens client relationships and leverages broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Direct day-to-day activities in alignment with the Bank's risk culture, risk appetite statements, and applicable limits, ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and embedded across the team.
- Create an environment where teams deliver effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework.
- Build a high-performance, inclusive environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates talent through coaching, clear communication, and disciplined succession and development planning.
- Drive innovation by leveraging market trends, external best practices, and a global perspective to continuously improve IFM performance and service outcomes.
Requirements
- Extensive senior leadership experience, typically 15+ years, in corporate Real Estate and IFM within large, complex global organizations.
- Experience working with large, global clients from the service provider side and/or overseeing service providers across a global portfolio is essential, including governance of outsourced operating models through periods of transition, complexity, and change.
- Proven ability to develop and execute enterprise-aligned Real Estate and IFM strategies that advance transformation, operational resilience, and efficiency.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to influence, advise, and partner effectively with executive stakeholders across geographies and functions.
- Strong understanding of service performance disciplines, commercial frameworks, contract language, key performance indicators, co-employment considerations, and vendor governance practices required to manage outsourced services effectively at scale.
- Exceptional leadership and people development capability, with experience leading geographically distributed teams through complexity and change.
- Deep understanding of the Bank's strategy, business model, operations, control environment, risk management, and regulatory expectations.
- Demonstrated strength in analytical thinking, strategic planning, and executive communication, including high-impact presentations to senior leadership and executive committees.
- Experience overseeing mission-critical environments, complex building systems, capital programs, vendor governance, and outsourced service delivery models across multi-site or global portfolios.
- Strong knowledge of facilities operations, critical infrastructure resilience, emergency management, workplace safety, sustainability, and service performance management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Spanish language capability is considered an asset
