Job description

As VP of Business Development you will be responsible for helping financial advisors understand the value of combining Vestmark's industry leading daily-tax-optimized UMA platform and sub-advisory services. You will serve as a key liaison between Vestmark and external distribution partners, driving platform awareness and adoption through collaborative networking and consultative engagement. This role requires a strong relationship-builder who can effectively communicate Vestmark's wealth management technology solutions to RIAs and independent wealth management firms. A successful candidate must demonstrate their ability to work cross-functionally across all Vestmark functions-from Product, Technology, Sales, Client Success, and Marketing. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with field distribution teams, home office leadership, and key decision-makers at partner firms through proactive outreach, consultative conversations, and regular touchpoints 
  • Network extensively across the financial services landscape to identify new distribution opportunities and deepen existing partnerships with RIAs and wealth management platforms 
  • Partner closely with Vestmark's sales and client success teams to align on go-to-market strategies, ensuring distribution partners are equipped with the resources and knowledge needed to promote Vestmark's solutions 
  • Deliver compelling presentations of Vestmark's value proposition to field distribution audiences, showcasing how our technology platform solves critical operational and investment management challenges 
  • Coordinate and participate in field events, regional conferences, and partner meetings to strengthen visibility and relationships within distribution networks 
  • Serve as the voice of distribution partners internally at Vestmark, providing feedback to Product, Technology, Marketing and Leadership teams to inform roadmap priorities and enhance partner experience 
  • Drive lead generation and opportunity identification by maintaining strong communication channels with distribution teams and tracking emerging needs within their advisor networks 
  • Leverage Vestmark's thought leadership and market insights to educate distribution partners on industry trends, regulatory changes, and the evolving wealth management landscape 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree required or relevant experience 
  • Proven track record in relationship management and networking within financial services, particularly with distribution teams, wholesalers, or field organizations 
  • Passion for financial technology and understanding of wealth management platforms, investment management, and operational efficiency solutions 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build credibility and trust across diverse stakeholder groups 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and with external partners in a matrixed environment 
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and drive results independently 
  • Deep understanding of the financial advisory landscape, including broker-dealer and RIA distribution models 
  • Willingness to travel regularly to meet with distribution partners and attend industry events 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills 

  • 5-7 years of experience in financial services, preferably in business development, distribution, wholesaling, or relationship management roles 
  • Established network within wealth management distribution channels 
  • Experience working with wealth management technology platforms or fintech solutions 
  • Expertise in utilizing CRM systems such as Salesforce to manage pipeline, track activities, and report on business development metrics 
  • Series 65 license preferred
