Job description

The Linux System Administrator is responsible to serve as the primary resource for the management and administration of all Linux assets at Holtec, including J2EE-based application servers, Oracle database servers, and high-performance computing clusters.
Location: Camden, NJ
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all Linux systems adhere to IT compliance and security controls through proper configuration, patching, and maintenance, with strong adherence to Linux security best practices.
  • Maintain system performance and ensure high availability.
  • Develop, implement, and execute disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Perform regular system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Install and configure physical and virtual servers to support AI workloads.
  • Administer and manage J2EE-based applications on Linux platforms.
  • Administer and manage high-performance clusters running Linux operating systems.
  • Support COTS and internally developed applications.
  • Monitor Oracle database availability, including RMAN backups and data recovery procedures.
  • Implement high-availability strategies for Linux servers and virtualization platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to ensure proper network segmentation and security controls, including iSCSI SAN connectivity.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of storage solutions and subsystems, including multipathing, LVM, XFS, and udev rules.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python or Bash.
  • Leverage configuration management and provisioning tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to automate deployments and maintain system consistency.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree of Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Pursuant to NN-801/U-NNPI requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Linux system administration, including management of enterprise-level applications and high-performance clusters.
  • Strong experience managing virtualization platforms such as OpenShift and VMware.
  • Knowledge of high-availability and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience managing and configuring enterprise application and middleware systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with RHEL 7/8/9 and AI distributions.
  • Experience working with F5 load balancers.
  • Cloud experience (Azure or AWS).
  • U.S. Citizenship required for this position.
