We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join our World Medical Mission team in North Wilkesboro, NC. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the role of Volunteer Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Provide Christ-centered guidance and logistical oversight to volunteers throughout the entire service assignment, ensuring they are well-informed, prepared, and supported as they serve through World Medical Mission and Samaritan's Purse.
  • Serve as a trusted communication liaison between volunteers, mission hospital and clinic staff, travel agencies, and donors, fostering clear communication and helping volunteers understand the ministry and purpose of international medical service.
  • Coordinate financial and administrative processes, ensuring volunteers understand donation and expense reimbursement procedures and partnering with the Expense Coordinator to facilitate accurate and timely processing.
  • Manage complex logistical needs and emergencies, using sound judgment to troubleshoot challenges, resolve problems, and provide practical solutions that enable volunteers to serve effectively.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and strengthen ministry resources, documenting communications and assignment materials while assisting with Coordinator training and the ongoing development of hospital and clinic orientation materials and procedures.
  • Support broader ministry communication and collaboration, working with fellow Coordinators and participating in conferences and meetings while preparing reports, presentations, and other materials as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; general knowledge of international affairs, foreign policy, and political frameworks within countries of oversight.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations, applying sound judgment to relevant information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, including writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and presenting information effectively to managers, partners, and the general public.
  • Ability to analyze information and solve practical problems, including collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and making sound decisions when limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and apply information, including performing basic mathematical calculations and following written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions in support of effective ministry operations.
