Nextek, LLC is a fully functioning software development company in the financial services industry. We create software solutions that serve the needs of Financial Services Professionals. As our platform continues to evolve, we are looking for a Software Engineer with strong Laravel experience to help us build, maintain, and improve the applications our clients rely on every day. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful software in a collaborative environment where technical expertise, ownership, adaptability, and quality engineering are highly valued.
What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using Laravel
  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, business logic, and integrations
  • Develop modern user interfaces using React and Next.js
  • Design, implement, and optimize relational database solutions
  • Integrate internal systems, third-party services, APIs, and external vendors
  • Develop and support software applications used by financial services professionals
  • Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making
  • Troubleshoot complex application, database, and production issues
  • Improve application performance, reliability, security, and scalability
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
  • Collaborate with other engineers and internal teams to plan and deliver new features
  • Communicate directly with end clients and vendors when needed
  • Help establish and maintain engineering best practices
  • Work independently while contributing to broader team objectives
  • Evaluate new technologies and development practices when they can provide meaningful value to the business
What You Bring
Required
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Laravel
  • Strong understanding of Laravel architecture, including routing, controllers, middleware, Eloquent ORM, queues, jobs, events, and APIs
  • Experience building and maintaining production web applications
  • Strong experience with React and/or Next.js
  • Experience designing and working with relational databases
  • Experience with SQL Server and/or MySQL
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and third-party integrations
  • Experience with .NET / C#
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, version control, testing, and code quality
Preferred
  • Extensive experience architecting and developing large Laravel applications
  • Experience with both AWS and Azure
  • Experience with both SQL Server and MySQL
  • Experience designing and optimizing complex relational databases
  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working with background jobs, queues, caching, and asynchronous processing
  • Experience with application performance monitoring and optimization
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and enterprise systems
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated industries
