Volunteer Opportunity: Backstage Dressing Assistants – Vision Beyond Sight Fashion Experience

Organization: Active Blind Community LLC

Active Blind Community is seeking compassionate, organized volunteers to serve as Backstage Dressing Assistants during the Vision Beyond Sight: A Four Seasons Fashion Experience on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in Detroit, Michigan.

This role helps ensure blind and visually impaired models are prepared for each runway appearance in a calm, organized, and supportive backstage environment.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Assist models with changing outfits between runway segments.

Prepare clothing and accessories for upcoming wardrobe changes.

Steam garments when needed.

Help keep clothing, shoes, and accessories organized in designated areas.

Assist designers, stylists, and boutique representatives as needed.

Help maintain an efficient, respectful, and professional backstage environment.

Encourage and support models throughout the event while respecting their independence and personal space.

Volunteer Commitment

Date: Thursday, October 22, 2026

Volunteers should be available from approximately 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM for event preparation, backstage support, and wrap-up.

Qualifications

Organized and detail-oriented.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Able to stand and move throughout the event.

Patient, dependable, and respectful.

Team-oriented with a positive attitude.

Previous experience in fashion, theater, costume assistance, retail, or event production is helpful but not required.
