Project Manager / Social Media Specialist

Location: Washington, DC

Schedule: Hybrid

Employment Type: Contract with potential for conversion

Contract Length: Approximately 5 months


Green Key is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Washington, DC to identify a Project Manager / Social Media Specialist to support its education and learning team.

This is a unique opportunity for a well-rounded professional who can combine strong project management skills with hands-on social media and digital content experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing complex projects, coordinating with vendors and volunteers, creating engaging social content, and keeping multiple priorities moving forward.

The initial assignment is expected to last approximately five months, with the potential to convert to a full-time position based on organizational needs and performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple complex projects from planning through completion, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and priorities stay on track.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, task lists, and status updates.
  • Use web-based project management tools to track projects, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Create, write, and coordinate engaging social media content across relevant platforms.
  • Develop social media captions and content that are informative, engaging, and visually appealing.
  • Manage and monitor social media scheduling and publishing using Hootsuite or a similar platform.
  • Support the development of digital content, graphics, presentations, and video content.
  • Use graphic design and/or video editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar platforms.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure social media and project communications align with organizational goals.
  • Provide regular project updates and proactively identify potential issues or delays.
  • Support additional communications, project management, and team initiatives as needed.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, or volunteers.
  • Hands-on social media experience is required.
  • Experience using Hootsuite or a similar social media management platform is required.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to create engaging social media copy.
  • Experience creating visually appealing digital content.
  • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, or another graphic design/video editing platform.
  • Experience with Wrike or another web-based project management platform.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree required; a degree in Science or another relevant discipline is a plus.
  • PMP certification is preferred but not required.
