Job description

The hourly rate for this position is $17 - 21, plus full benefits. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking two Animal Caregiver I - Equine for our Black Beauty Ranch (BBR) in Murchison, Texas. In this position you will provide care to nearly 400 horses within the Equine department.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Prepares and administers feed and maintains prescribed diet for animals within the equine department at Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch. Assists in ordering and maintaining food inventory;
โ€ข Provides daily care and observation of animals, including grooming and corralling as in keeping with seasonally changing needs. Maintains logs and databases of daily care, feeding, husbandry, animal locations, and body conditions;
โ€ข Cleans and provides daily upkeep for enclosures, habitats, and office areas;
โ€ข Maintains and repairs enclosures, pastures, and habitats including mowing, landscaping, and assistance with construction of new facilities;
โ€ข Prepares and implements behavioral management and wellness programs;
โ€ข Applies positive reinforcement techniques to aid in care and medical treatment of animals;
โ€ข Dispenses prescriptions as directed and assists with ordering animal care supply inventory;
โ€ข Provides basic first aid, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care to animals. Assists the Veterinary team with procedures, animal transport, and chemical capture as appropriate;
โ€ข Assists with overseeing interns and volunteers in assigned department, including reporting, and handling concerns and providing mentorship;
โ€ข Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent required;
โ€ข One (1) year of experience in animal care a plus;
โ€ข Must have or be able to obtain and maintain up-to-date rabies prophylaxis and titer and TB testing;
โ€ข Willing and able to work a flexible schedule;
โ€ข Proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
โ€ข Strong written and verbal communication skills;
โ€ข Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
โ€ข Strong interpersonal skills are necessary;
โ€ข Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
