Job description

Description The Hastings Police Reserve is an unpaid, non-sworn, volunteer unit within the Police Department. Reserve. Reserve Police Officers serve their community in an uniformed capacity.

The reserve unit is comprised of local citizens who are dedicated to their community and its safety. The Hastings Police Reserve Unit has been in existence for more than 40 years adding to the safety and livability of this historic City. Examples of Duties Assist sworn officers in maintaining safety, security, and traffic control at large community events like Rivertown Days, the Gobble Gait event, and high school and community sporting events; Ride with and assist sworn officers with proactive patrol and emergency response; Play a key role in patrolling Hastings many parks and trails Typical Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age High School diploma or equivalent Good verbal and written English communication skills Valid drivers license Successful completion of comprehensive background investigation Supplemental Information Time Commitment Commitment is a 120 hours per year that will include monthly meetings.

The Hastings Police Reserve Unit provides nearly 5,000 hours of volunteer service to the community each year. Training Volunteers will be trained in First Aid, Use of Force, Use of Taser, and other law enforcement related matters.
