Job description

Position:                             Football Communications Intern

Department:                       Communications

Reporting Relationship:   Reports to the Senior Manager of Football Communications

Status:                                Intern (Non-Exempt)

Duration:                           June 2026 – May 2027 

Position Summary

The Football Communications Intern position will assist with the daily operations of the Football Communications department. Duties include, but are not limited to, contributions to the weekly media releases, assisting with the coordination of interviews with the media, publishing daily transactions, assisting with the credentialing process for all media and contributing to the gameday operation for all home games. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the weekly media release with writing and statistical information.
  • Contribute to other departmental publications as assigned.
  • Maintain, update and enhance the all-inclusive media website platform, NFL Online Media Guide (OMG), with pertinent information.
  • Compile records and statistics following each game as well as at the end of the season.
  • Manage all aspects of online news clippings on a local and national level, including distribution.
  • Coordinate player interviews with local and national media.
  • Assist media during open locker room period and practice.
  • Monitor social and internet media regarding the Panthers organization on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the credentialing process for all media, TV networks and visiting teams.
  • Set up press box (seating cards, seating charts, booth signs, flip cards, game notes) prior to home games.
  • Transcribe various press conferences and interviews throughout the week and on gameday.
  • Assists with staffing all Panthers home games for the Communications department.
  • Other duties assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be organized, proactive and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and social media.
  • Discretion and trustworthiness related to confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group.
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and prioritize multiple projects.
  • A professional approach in all interactions with fellow Panther staff members, players, and coaches.
  • Punctuality, accountability, and keen attention to detail in each duty.
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and/or weekends and all Carolina Panthers and Stadium events, including events held on weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Must pass pre-employment screens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous sports-related communications experience on the professional or collegiate level.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of the time throughout the day
  • Operates in a professional office environment
  • Lift at least 30 pounds

Work Environment

This job operates mostly in an office environment and outside in a stadium facility at times which may include inclement weather conditions.
