The Opportunity: We are seeking an Associate Research Analyst to join our Annuity Research team. This is a great role for a candidate who loves working with data and numbers to uncover actionable insights and "stories" that will help our members achieve their business goals. They thrive in a collaborative environment, working with both team mates and members. They are also comfortable working independently, and balancing a workload comprised of both regular, ongoing and repeatable work such as benchmark analysis, and timely, topical project work. This is a hybrid position which requires on campus presence as needed, you should be able to easily commute to the Windsor, CT office.
What Will You be doing?
This role will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining good relationships with member companies and collaborating with fellow employees, primarily through.
  • Coordinating and conducting member engagement activities such as study groups, conference presentations, webinars
  • Supporting primary and secondary research projects and serving (upon request) as peer reviewer for both Institutional Retirement and the broader Workplace Benefits team
  • Managing regular data-gathering efforts, such as benchmarks and member surveys.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Willingness to learn the industry, develop needed skills, and contribute to the team's success
  • College Degree (business, economics, research financial, mathematics, finance, statistics or related preferred)
  • Mathematic and statistic skills to work with data and develop reports; ability to recognize patterns to find useful information in data that's sometimes unstructured
  • Ability to apply both qualitative and quantitative approaches to research
  • Attention to detail, research, fact-checking and validation skills to ensure valid data sources and verify accuracy
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Sound written and oral communication skills
  • Customer service mind-set and approach
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative

Preferred skills:
  • A combination of experience in financial services experience in a company / industry role; competitive intelligence, product development, marketing or strategy is a plus
