AI Machine Learning Engineer II (Full Time) – United States

Meet The Team

You will join a dynamic engineering team building AI/ML solutions, collaborating with platform, security, release engineering, and support teams to deliver the product and ensure its smooth operation.

Your Impact

In this role, you will develop and implement applications based on generative large language models (e.g., GPT‑4, Claude, Llama, and their derivatives) to meet business requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, customize, and fine‑tune generative AI models.
  • Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Engage in red‑teaming to validate robustness and precision.
  • Design and develop APIs to facilitate interactions with AI models.
  • Address and resolve issues arising from AI applications.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to capture, preprocess, and load data for model training.
  • Participate in model architecture discussions.
  • Conduct model training using predefined optimization techniques, including hyperparameter tuning.
  • Evaluate model performance using standard metrics and contribute to end‑to‑end automation and deployment efforts.
  • Write high‑quality, production‑ready code for platform‑based deployment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) within the past 3 years, or current enrollment with expected completion within 12 months, and 2 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree program with 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, including supervised, unsupervised, and semi‑supervised learning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in deploying and scaling ML models using cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure.
  • Experienced with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and ML model monitoring tools.
  • Knowledgeable in big data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Skilled in Go/Java for backend development and integration with data science applications.
  • Demonstrated background in machine learning, generative AI, and time series analytics through coursework, research, publications, or industry experience.

Compensation & Benefits

U.S. employees are offered benefits subject to Cisco’s plan eligibility rules, including medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long‑term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible for grants of restricted stock units and paid time away as described below.

  • 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday.
  • 1 paid day off for birthday, year‑end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness.
  • Non‑exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year.
  • Exempt employees participate in a flexible vacation program with no defined limit.
  • 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, up to 80 hours carried forward.
  • Optional 10 paid days per year to volunteer.

Salary ranges by location are listed below.

  • New York City Metro Area: $123,600 – $200,100.
  • Non‑Metro New York State & Washington State: $109,900 – $181,600.
