Job Summary
Schoolcraft College is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructors to teach a variety of art and craft classes for adult learners such as colored pencil, Acrylic Painting, Patel Art, Cartooning, Macrame, Jewelry making and more through its Personal & Professional Learning division.
Personal & Professional Learning offers a diverse range of non-credit courses and programs designed to enrich the lives of adult and senior learners. Classes are taught by experienced professionals who bring expertise, creativity, and passion to the learning experience. Instructors may develop and teach new courses or lead existing offerings in their area of expertise. Classes vary in format, schedule, and duration, ranging from single-session workshops to multi-week courses and full-semester programs.
Successful candidates will create engaging, welcoming, and inclusive learning environments that encourage creativity, skill development, and lifelong learning.
Job Duties
Schoolcraft College Personal & Professional Learning is seeking an Art & Crafts Instructor to develop new courses and/or teach existing art and crafts classes for adult learners, fostering a fun, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
Required Qualifications
  1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in one or more art, craft or creative disciplines.
  2. A passion for sharing knowledge and fostering creativity in others.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Associate degree (or higher).
  2. Previous teaching or workshop facilitation.
  3. Experience creating course content and lesson plans.

Physical Requirements

  • In-Person: This position may require the employee to be onsite at Schoolcraft College.
  • Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Office Environment: This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. This role may also involve standing and walking for periods of time, and the use of hands and moving objects on occasion, of up to 10-20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
