Job description

Italian Translator & Interpreter

Position Highlights

The Italian Translator is responsible for translating copy and daily correspondence from English to Italian, and vice versa, with speed and accuracy. The role also provides interpretation support between English and Italian and offers linguisticโ€‘based customer service for members and partners.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Translate correspondences and publications, including voiceโ€‘over and subtitling for the associationโ€™s media productions.
  • Provide simultaneous interpretation at board meetings, international conventions, seminars, and other executive meetings.
  • Handle administrative duties such as processing reports, issuing awards, and record keeping.
  • Assist other divisions and departments with language needs.
  • Offer cultural expertise to staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct headquarters tours for nonโ€‘Englishโ€‘speaking visitors.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Weโ€™re Looking for Someone With
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent command of English and native ability to speak, read, and write in Italian.
  • Familiarity with Italian history, culture, tradition, and current life.
  • Prior translation and interpretation experience strongly preferred.
  • Professional experience in simultaneous interpretation/planning is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~5% of time).
  • Availability to work in the Oak Brook, IL office weekly.

Compensation

Exempt, $60,000โ€“$70,000.
