What is a Volunteer iOS App Reviewer?

A Volunteer iOS App Reviewer is someone who evaluates iOS applications, typically before they are released to the public, to provide feedback on usability, design, functionality, and overall user experience. These reviewers are not paid for their work and usually participate to gain experience, support developers, or contribute to open-source projects. Their feedback helps developers identify bugs, improve app features, and ensure the app meets user expectations. Volunteer iOS App Reviewers often have experience using iOS devices and an interest in mobile technology.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a volunteer iOS app reviewer?

To thrive as a Volunteer iOS App Reviewer, you need a solid understanding of iOS app functionality, attention to detail, and familiarity with user experience principles, typically gained through experience with Apple devices and mobile apps. Familiarity with Apple's App Store guidelines, TestFlight, and bug tracking tools is often required. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and constructive feedback skills help reviewers collaborate with developers and clearly articulate app issues. These abilities ensure apps meet quality standards and provide a positive user experience for end-users.

How does a volunteer iOS app reviewer typically collaborate with development teams during the review process?

As a Volunteer iOS App Reviewer, you’ll frequently collaborate with developers by providing detailed feedback on usability, design, and functionality. Communication often occurs through project management tools, emails, or dedicated feedback platforms, allowing you to discuss bugs, suggest improvements, and clarify user experience issues directly with the team. Your input helps shape the app before public release, and you may participate in regular check-ins or feedback sessions to ensure your insights are thoroughly considered. This collaborative process not only supports the app’s quality but also offers you valuable exposure to the development cycle and team dynamics.

Job description

Overview
Corporate Tools is hiring a iOS App Developer for $120,000/year. You will be a traditional company employee. This is a remote position, but if you're near one of our local offices, you're welcome to come hangout with us in-office as well. Our main offices are in Post Falls, ID, and Spokane, WA; we also have satellite offices in Austin, TX, and Salt Lake City, UT. You'll be working 40 hours a week and, of course, enjoy great company benefits. At this time we are only able to support employees that are US residents. Sorry!
Are you really into mobile development? We'd like to be able to say we truly are into mobile development and have put the proper resources into building a vibrant mobile group of developers. As of today, we're no where close to where we'd like to be and we're looking for inspired folks to help us play in mobile as well as possible. Might that be you?
We run a number of business tool apps that help people at all stages of their business with various services and tools. From domains, phones, emails, business entity maintenance, business licenses, mail received on their behalf, etc. It's complex and we service millions of users.
The largest problem you'll be trying to solve is running our Phone App. We run a second phone line app mostly for businesses but we fancy ourselves as the most private, encrypted way to send messages and do phone calls that exists. Think Whats App and Google Voice, but without it being free so the big evil corporations can get your meta data. Running a second phone line and keeping our users communications as private as possible on hardware that is meant to not provide any privacy to the user on infrastructure and telecommunications that are meant to not provide any privacy to the users is our largest challenge. But it's a war we firmly believe in.
If you're up for a challenge, working with fun good humans, and into doing good work. We'd love to talk
Wage
$120,000 / year
Benefits
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental and vision for employees
  • Annual review with raise option
  • 22 days Paid Time Off accrued annually, and 4 holidays
    • After 3 years, PTO increases to 29 days. Employees transition to flexible time off after 5 years with the company-not accrued, not capped, take time off when you want
    • The 4 holidays are: New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Up to 6% company matching 401(k) with no vesting period
  • Quarterly allowance
    • Use to make your remote work set up more comfortable, for continuing education classes, a plant for your desk, coffee for your coworker, a massage for yourself... really, whatever
  • Open concept office with friendly coworkers
  • Creative environment where you can make a difference
  • No dumb benefits like free dog walking on the weekends that snobby hipster places have to make you feel cool, but mathematically won't cost the company much money because you won't use it
  • Trail Mix Bar - oh yeah

  • Develop exciting new mobile applications for iOS from the ground up
  • Collaborate with software developers to integrate existing technologies (APIs) into a mobile application
