Job description

This position is responsible for:
Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet volunteer program needs. Plans, schedules, and assigns work of volunteers; instructs volunteers in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness. Develop and schedule social media content according to Salvation Army policy and procedures that promotes volunteer opportunities, highlights community impact, shares upcoming events, and recognizes volunteers and corporate partners.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet volunteer program needs.
  • Provides direction and support to volunteer groups and seasonal staff under his/her supervision and evaluates volunteer group projects.
  • Participates in the development and scheduling of social media content according to Salvation Army policy and procedures that promotes volunteer opportunities, highlights community impact, shares upcoming events, and recognizes volunteers and corporate partners.
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns work of volunteers; instructs volunteers in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records on all volunteers; Performs data entry and maintenance of volunteer records using Development Department donor software management system and Red Kettle volunteer software.
  • Serve as a resource for volunteers and community partners by answering questions regarding volunteer opportunities, registration, policies, dress code, scheduling, and event logistics while providing excellent customer service.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work can be performed indoors and outdoors at volunteer events and may include standing, walking and travel in Metro Atlanta area.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in business or marketing, and
  • One-year experience recruiting people to perform work on a volunteer basis preferred, or
  • any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:
  • Valid State Driver's License
