SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Data Analyst โ€“ Category & Supplier Insights transforms syndicated POS data and demand signals into actionable intelligence that drives growth across retailers, brands, and SKUs. Reporting to the Director FP&A, this role partners closely with Sales to track real-time demand patterns, analyze performance trends, and translate data into clear recommendations that influence sales strategy, category decisions, and inventory management at both the warehouse and account level โ€” ensuring the right product is in the right place, at the right time.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Analysis & Insights Development โ€“ Analyze syndicated POS data (Spins, Circana/IRI, Nielsen) across retailers, brands, categories, and SKUs. Extract, clean, and manage large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and performance drivers.
  • Category & SKU Performance โ€“ Monitor and evaluate performance at the retailer, brand, and SKU level. Identify distribution gaps, velocity opportunities, and assortment optimization strategies.
  • Strategic Recommendations โ€“ Translate insights into actionable recommendations for internal teams, retail partners, and brand stakeholders. Support category reviews, line reviews, and business planning with data-backed strategies.
  • Reporting & Visualization โ€“ Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and presentations that clearly communicate key insights. Customize analyses for different audiences, including sales, marketing, and leadership teams.
  • Collaboration โ€“ Partner with Sales, Category Management, and Marketing teams to align insights with business objectives. Support customer-facing presentations with data storytelling and strategic recommendations.

What You Will Bring:

Required

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field
  • 2โ€“5+ years of experience in data analytics, preferably in CPG, food distribution, or retail
  • Strong experience with syndicated POS data (Spins, Circana/IRI, Nielsen, etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) preferred
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills

Preferred

  • Experience working with retailer data portals
  • Familiarity with category management principles
  • SQL or data querying experience is a plus

What We Bring:

Compensation โ€” In accordance with Washington state law, in good-faith, the total annual compensation is estimated between $70,000 and $140,000 (cumulative of base salary, bonus opportunities, and other perquisites), with final base salary determined by skills and experience.

Medical, Dental & Vision Coverage โ€” Comprehensive insurance plans are available to eligible employees and their covered dependents.

Life Insurance โ€” Peterson Company provides $25,000 in employerโ€‘paid basic life insurance policy, with additional voluntary coverage options available.

401(k) Retirement Plan โ€” Employees may begin contributing after 30 days of employment. Peterson Company matches approximately $0.30 per dollar up to 6% of eligible income. A dedicated financial partner is available to support investment education and planning.
