The Geoscience Data Analyst is a technically skilled, detail-oriented professional responsible for supporting database management, maintenance, and data integrity. This role blends traditional geotechnical support with data science responsibilities, including coding and query development and building and maintaining technical tools to streamline workflows and strengthen data-driven decision-making.


Job Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to

  • Manage and maintain geoscience databases (e.g., Petra, Kingdom, Snowflake) to ensure accurate, reliable, and accessible data for multidisciplinary teams
  • Compile, clean, and standardize large geological datasets from internal and external sources
  • Design and document workflows for efficient data loading, editing, QC, and extraction within subsurface interpretation platforms
  • Integrate and maintain subsurface datasets in ArcGIS to provide accurate geospatial products and support
  • Develop and maintain Spotfire dashboards and supporting data pipelines to visualize and analyze geological datasets
  • Partner with geoscientists to build custom analyses and workflows that surface trends and enable data-driven decisions
  • Develop and enhance scripts and tools (e.g., Python, SQL) to automate data ingestion and QC, improve visualizations, and streamline routine tasks
  • Support operations geoscientists with real-time data updates and QA/QC to help answer questions related to drilling optimization

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Geoscience or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering or geology related analytics
  • Experience handling complex and high-volume geological datasets
  • Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, SQL)
  • Exposure geoscience software (e.g., Petra, Kingdom, StarSteer) or similar subsurface interpretation platforms
  • Experience with Snowflake and maintaining data pipelines
  • Strong working knowledge of TIBCO Spotfire and associated applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Petroleum Engineering
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability
