Job description

The Homeland Protection Systems Group works with the U.S. Government and other stakeholders to develop, assess, and rapidly transition advanced technologies to address emerging national security priorities in the homeland. In recent years, the group has successfully deployed innovative technology solutions to safeguard the National Airspace, population centers, and critical infrastructure. Leveraging our expertise in complex systems analysis, advanced algorithm development, and hardware prototyping, our team of analysts, engineers, and technologists applies cutting-edge techniques in data analysis, predictive analytics, and systems engineering to solve complex Homeland Protection problems and strengthen national security.
Job Description
Our group is seeking highly motivated data scientists interested in solving challenging technical problems that impact the real world. As part of an interdisciplinary team, our assistant technical staff support projects through physics-based modeling, data analysis, and algorithm development using a combination of advanced analytics and critical reasoning. Technical staff employ computing environments such as MATLAB, Python, or Julia to create quantitative analysis products and assist project leads in developing high-impact briefings for Government change-makers. Upon joining the group, the candidate will work with an experienced team to learn about the Homeland Protection mission and develop a career path that matches their technical interests.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Physics, Mathematics, Applied Math, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or similar field)
  • Strong expertise in MATLAB, Python, or Julia
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with data (e.g., collection, curation, transformation, processing, visualization)
  • Experience with common data analytics and/or modeling techniques (e.g., clustering, time-series analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics (e.g., graphical techniques, predictive inference, etc.)
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and rapidly learn new skills

  • Experience with source control management tools like Git
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks
  • Strong presentation and communication skills

Recent Graduate Hiring Range: $100,200 - $120,000
Experienced Hiring Range: $100,200 - $150,000
