Digital Scorpion Interactive is seeking a remote volunteer for a: Audio Lead About the Company: Digital Scorpion Interactive (DSI) is a fully remote startup video game studio dedicated to innovation, integrity, and ingenuity. We aim to push the boundaries of modern gaming and create immersive experiences that captivate players.

As an incubation studio, one of DSI's core goals is to provide opportunities for game developers who are recent graduates or new to the industry. We offer real entry‐level experience to talented individuals looking to break into the game development world. Our studio operates with a passionate team of approximately 20 dedicated cross‐discipline developers.

Position Overview Digital Scorpion Interactive is seeking an experienced and creative Audio Lead to join our studio team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about interactive audio, with a strong background in sound design and implementation for games. You will be responsible for leading the audio vision and execution across our projects, utilizing industry‐standard tools and working closely with cross‐functional teams to deliver immersive, high‐quality audio experiences.

Responsibilities Develop and execute the overall audio strategy for game projects, ensuring a cohesive and immersive soundscape that enhances gameplay and storytelling. Design, implement, and optimize audio assets—including sound effects, music, dialogue, and ambiences—using FMOD, Wwise, and Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). Collaborate with game designers, artists, and programmers to integrate audio seamlessly into the game environment and mechanics.

Lead and mentor audio team members, providing guidance, feedback, and support to maintain high standards of quality and creativity. Manage audio pipelines and workflows using GitHub for version control, ClickUp for task management, and Nextcloud for file sharing and collaboration. Conduct regular reviews and playtests to ensure audio assets meet technical requirements and artistic vision.

Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in game audio. Troubleshoot and resolve audio‐related issues throughout development. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in game audio or related field.

Proficiency with FMOD and Wwise audio middleware, as well as Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). Experience with GitHub, ClickUp, and Nextcloud for collaborative workflows. Strong understanding of audio design principles, sound synthesis, mixing, and mastering for interactive media.

Demonstrated ability to create, edit, and implement audio assets using industry‐standard tools. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‐paced studio environment. Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, Music Production, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Portfolio or reel demonstrating relevant audio work in games or interactive media.

Ability to work remotely and commit 20‐25 hours per week. Must be a U.S. citizen and reside in the Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern U.S.

time zone. Note: This position is currently unpaid, but we offer several benefits beyond experience. Benefits Internships can count toward college credit.
