What does a volunteer frontend developer do?

A Volunteer Frontend Developer creates and maintains the parts of websites and web applications that users interact with directly, such as layouts, navigation menus, and interactive features. They typically use technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and may work with frameworks such as React or Vue.js. As volunteers, they often contribute their skills to non-profit organizations or community projects, helping to improve digital accessibility and user experience without compensation. Their work can include designing user interfaces, fixing bugs, and collaborating with other team members to deliver functional, visually appealing web solutions.

Job description

This role can be located in our Newton, MA; Atlanta, GA; or Orlando, FL office, and requires four days per week on‑site.*

The RMR Group is seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, develop, and maintain modern, scalable applications. This role is designed for a developer who pairs "end-to-end" hands‑on experience with a passion for AI-augmented engineering. Solid experience with multi-layered web application development is required.

The ideal candidate doesn't just write code; they leverage AI development tools to accelerate the SDLC—from architectural prototyping to automated testing—while collaborating closely with IT and business stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions for the real estate industry.

Responsibilities
  • Architect & Develop: Design, build, and maintain full-stack applications using Clean Architecture and modern engineering practices (TDD, SOLID).
  • AI-Augmented Engineering: Proactively use AI-assisted tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) to accelerate coding, refactor legacy logic, and automate documentation.
  • Cloud‑Native Design: Participate in architectural design sessions to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and optimized for the Azure ecosystem.
  • Agile Collaboration: Work within Agile teams to translate business requirements into high-performance features, participating in code reviews and sprint planning.
  • Innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for automation and the integration of Generative AI within business workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on full‑stack development experience.
  • Backend Expertise: C#, ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, microservices, Python, and modern frameworks.
  • Frontend Expertise: Strong experience with modern frameworks (specifically React or Blazor), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server and Azure cloud services.
  • Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps tooling.
  • Advanced comfort using AI coding assistants to drive efficiency – experience in "prompt engineering" for code generation and debugging is highly valued.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical business users.
Total Rewards

The RMR Group offers an extensive total rewards package to ensure that your benefits align with your needs. Employees who work at least 21 hours per week are eligible to participate in The RMR Group’s benefits plans, including:

  • Health Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Life & Disability Insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Plans (FSA)
  • 401(k) Plan with Employer Match
  • Holidays, Vacation & Sick Time
  • Tuition Assistance
  • Matching Gift Program
  • Wide Array of Voluntary, Employee-Paid Benefits to choose from including Critical Illness & Accident Insurance, Identity Theft Protection & Pet Insurance

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $170,000 per year. RMR considers several components including an individual's skills, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market data.

The RMR Group is an equal opportunity employer. Qualified applications will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
