Beyond emergency response, you'll oversee key departmental functions such as training, logistics, or administration; mentor and develop personnel; ensure operational readiness; and help guide the department through strategic planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement.If you're ready to lead from the front, inspire others, and help shape the future of Spanish Fork Fire & EMS, come work with us and make a lasting difference in the community you serve. Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Incident Command: Assume duties as the Incident Commander at emergency scenes until relieved by a superior officer.Supervision & Mentorship: Direct, supervise, and evaluate assigned personnel, including Firefighters, Engineers, Paramedics, and AEMTs.Operational Readiness: Supervise the maintenance of equipment, apparatus, and facilities while participating in fire suppression and technical rescue.Administrative Leadership: Prepare reports, conduct research for budget recommendations, and assist in developing departmental goals.Community Relations: Respond to and resolve difficult inquiries or complaints from the public with professionalism. Position QualificationsEducation / Experience:High School Diploma or GED (Associate degree preferred).Three (3) years of full-time Fire/EMS experience, or six (6) years of volunteer/part-time experience.Certifications:EMS: Utah or NREMT AEMT or Paramedic certification.Medical: Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.Fire: Utah State Certified Firefighter I & II and Fire Officer I (IFSAC or ProBoard)NIMS: 100, 200, 700a, and 800b (ICS 300 & 400 preferred).Required within 1 year: Fire Inspector I (or Company Officer Inspector) and Wildland Red Card certification.Necessary Skills & Abilities:Thorough knowledge of department policies and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and proficiency in standard computer systems and software.Ability to perform physical lifting and heavy maneuvering.Additional Requirements:Valid Utah State driver's license.Must meet established physical fitness requirements.Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements. BENEFITS PACKAGESpanish Fork City offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees and their families:Health Insurance: Full insurance through SelectHealth with two plan options.
