Job Summary:
The Office Engineer II requires knowledge of engineering construction including planning, design review, construction oversight, quality and safety. They apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks. This position performs routine technical work which requires previous experience in office engineering tasks and an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collect data and/or documents
  • Perform standard computations or analysis
  • Manage document control of various projects
  • Prepare or review drawings and visual aids
  • Review engineers should be able to work independently on tasks and use appropriate discretion to elevate concerns and before reaching out to the client
  • Prepare payment progress reports
  • Review shoring plans
  • Prepare meeting minutes
  • Preparation of scope of work packages for construction task orders, requests for bids
  • Review Invoices, daily production reports and daily inspection reports
  • Observe construction activities
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Proficiency with electronic communication including e-mail and text, as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Understand engineering plans
  • Understand sharepoint
  • Possess basic oral and written communication skills
  • Interact with other staff

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • 3 years experience in engineering project management, construction management
  • Experience in railroad state of good repair preferred

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience as an engineering intern in related field
  • Experience producing drawings with CAD software

Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) - could be obtained while in this category
