Job description

Position: Senior Project Manager- Data Center

San Antonio, TX

Job Overview:
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is tasked with overseeing data center projects from preconstruction to final completion. Acting as the primary point of contact for the project team, the SPM leads both in-house and on-site teams, ensuring the successful delivery of data center projects. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for shop drawings and submittal reviews, as well as accurately tracking the budget and executing the schedule with all trades of work. The SPM provides monthly cost reports and owner billings and oversees communicating with local government officials regarding permitting and inspections to ensure that subcontractors maintain the proper focus on quality and safety.
Primary Duties:

  • Establishing a robust safety culture within data center projects.
  • Controlling costs and maintaining profitability while leveraging extensive experience in data center construction.
  • Managing field construction activities specific to data centers, including equipment installation, network components, and security systems.
  • Supervising the development of project schedules tailored to data center requirements.
  • Reviewing cost reports and implementing strategies to optimize costs within data center projects.
  • Setting up project labor needs in alignment with data center specifications and consulting with management.
  • Conducting regular inspections of data center projects to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Coordinating closely with subcontractors to guarantee all data center work meets project scope and technical specifications.
  • Enforcing data center-specific policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with architects, network specialists, and data center clients to address project challenges unique to data centers.
  • Leading safety meetings focused on data center operations and maintaining compliance with safety protocols.
  • Regularly monitoring data center projects to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Holding meetings with project teams to review progress and plan future data center construction activities.
  • Providing Quality Control oversight in data center construction projects.
  • Demonstrating Yates Core Values and Principles, specifically applied to data center operations.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate University degree or higher, ideally in a relevant field like Construction Management, Engineering, or Data Center Management.
  • Substantial experience (7-10 years) in managing data center construction projects.
  • Proven track record in handling medium to large data center projects ($100M+).

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in software relevant to data center project management, such as Primavera, Excel, Word, and MS Project.
  • Experience in implementing large and complex safety plans specific to data center environments.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate data center project teams effectively.
  • Effective negotiation and contract management skills when dealing with data center clients.
  • In-depth understanding of cost reporting methods in data center projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of data center construction practices and systems.
  • Familiarity with various insurance programs applicable to data center construction sites.
