Job description

Serenity Hospice provides caring and compassionate hospice care services to patients and families throughout New Jersey. Our mission is to alleviate pain and symptoms; foster a state of calmness and harmony; and encourage an appreciation of family, friends, and life experiences.

Serenity Hospice Care is looking for an organized and outgoing Volunteer Coordinator to join our team! This position will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and closing medical records as needed for patients as well as assisting the Administration team with ongoing projects. This position oversees Central New Jersey. (Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon, Mercer)

This position requires traveling 85% of the time. 

Responsibilities:

  • Travel and survey assigned territories for recruitment opportunities. 

  • Target and market communitities & colleges for external engagement.

  • Set up and execute outreach opportuntities for volunteer recruitment.

  • Create and maintain volunteer partnerships with organizations and businesses. 

  • Onboard and train new volunteers in Serenity Hospice volunteer policies & procedures. 

  • Promote volunteer opportunities via Social Media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)

  • Assess the volunteer’s working relationship with the team.

  • Host volunteer engagement events throughout the year. 

  • Work together with the Volunteer department to reach goals and maintain retention efforts. 

  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and attend other staff meetings, as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience in overseeing volunteers a plus!

  • Experience in outreach and community involvment a plus!

  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office.

  • Reliable transportation and valid drivers license.

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

  • Organized and self motivated.
