Job description

You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Production Resources Department (Code 900), Production Workforce Development and Resource Manager (Code 9008), Consolidated Training Division (900T), Apprentice/Helper to Worker Training Branch (Code 900T3) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.Qualifications:GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience with a practical knowledge of education and training principles, techniques, and practices within trades like fabric worker, sheetmetal mechanic, electrician, high voltage electrician, boat builder, woodcrafter, painter, shipwright, pipefitter, boiler plant equipment mechanic, or air conditioning equipment mechanic.
  • Experience with the maintenance (i.e. researching, developing, establishing, updating, improving, etc.) of the assigned courses and is expected to participate in the development or substantial redesign of portions of courses.
  • Experience incorporating the latest developments and integrating subjects into instruction to maintain state-of-art-training.
  • Experience conducting class and exercising control over student's activities, certify attendance, counsels students on progress and suggest how improvements can be achieved.
GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience applying a working knowledge of education and training principles, techniques, and practices in the Shipwright Trade.
  • Experience working independently to develop, revise, and adapt assigned courses.
  • Experience preparing lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives.
  • Experience recommending adjustments or modifications to training in accordance with the evaluation.
  • Experience maintaining training records and developing training reports.

GS-11
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
GS-09
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
or
LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
