Job description

Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for the management and oversight of the electronic and paper client records and the medical records department.
  • Maintains compliance with corporate and legal requirements for retention of records. Review, develop, educate/train staff and implement health information plans to assure compliance with state, federal, accrediting and funder organization or regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures personnel record compliance for contractors and student licensed practitioners.  Leads all aspects of training in myAvatar for contractors and student licensed practitioners.
  • Responsible for the protection and privacy of client Personal Health Information (PHI). 
  • Generate and analyze electronic health record reports. Assist with internal and external audits relating to client records.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Health Information Management preferred, with RHIA or HA credentials. Associates Degree with RHIT or Experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in the behavioral health, quality improvement, or health information field preferred; related health care and quality management experience may be considered. 
  • Experience in auditing, compliance, surveying, credentialing, and HIPAA regulations is essential.
