The City of Cedar Hill, Texas has immediate Single-Role Paramedic positions to fill. Anticipated hire date: October 5, 2026. $5,000 Hiring Incentive. We are seeking highly motivated, service-driven Paramedics to join our team, with an anticipated hire date of 10/5/2026. Multiple positions are available for professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality prehospital care and serving the Cedar Hill community with compassion, skill, and professionalism. This is a single-role Paramedic position (not serving in a Firefighting capacity).

Under the direction of the on-duty Battalion Chief, company officer, or designated unit OIC, the Single-Role Paramedic provides advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical assessment, treatment, and transportation to sick and injured persons under the clinical authority of the EMS System Medical Director (Bio-Tel) and in accordance with applicable clinical practice guidelines, department policies, and law. The employee operates and maintains emergency medical vehicles, equipment, medications, and communications systems; completes required patient-care and operational documentation; and participates in training, quality-improvement, readiness, community-health, and other assigned EMS activities. This is a non-firefighter EMS position and does not perform structural fire-suppression duties. The employee may assist with patient access, movement, rehabilitation, medical monitoring, and other non-suppression activities at fire, rescue, disaster, or special-event incidents when directed and appropriately trained. This position reports to the Assistant Chief of EMS or designee. Clinical practice is governed by the EMS System Medical Director. During orientation and field training, the employee works under the direction of assigned MOT/FTO personnel. The employee may be designated as the lead paramedic on an EMS unit and may provide clinical guidance to EMTs, students, probationary employees, and other assigned personnel; this designation does not confer supervisory rank unless separately appointed.

Potential Schedule: Full-time, 40-hour workweek. Paramedics will typically be assigned two to three 12-hour shifts per week on the department's Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. peak-time ambulance. Remaining weekly hours will be scheduled for EMS training, operational support, and other departmental duties. Employees will not routinely work five consecutive 12-hour shifts.

How You Add Value:

• Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Interact professionally with patients, families, first responders, and hospital staff; act as a patient advocate and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA). Communicate calmly and effectively with patients, families, crews, and hospital staff during high-stress situations.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical calls and deliver ALS patient care in accordance with current BioTel CPGs, Medical Director requirements, department policies, and applicable law.
• Perform patient assessment: obtain history and vital signs, complete physical examination, form a field impression, and determine treatment priorities. Apply assessment findings and CPGs to form field impressions and make sound treatment decisions independently.
• Perform ALS interventions: advanced airway management, IV / IO access, medication administration and infusions, cardiac monitoring, 12-lead interpretation, defibrillation, cardioversion, and pacing.
• Assist with accessing, packaging, lifting, moving, and transporting patients using stretchers, stair chairs, scoop stretchers, backboards, and other approved devices, including patients located in vehicles, confined areas, elevated locations, or other difficult environments, within the employee's training and assigned role.
• Operate and safely drive the ambulance / MICU and other authorized department vehicles to and from scenes, receiving facilities, and assignments under emergency and non-emergency conditions.
• Communicate with medical control, dispatch, first responders, and receiving facilities; deliver clear en-route and bedside patient reports; and operate assigned communications, dispatch, hospital-notification, and patient-tracking systems.
• Accurately and promptly document patient care and operational activities in the electronic patient care report (ePCR), records-management, and other assigned information systems.
• Inspect, restock, clean, decontaminate, and maintain the unit, medical equipment, and medications; ensure operational readiness and maintain accurate possession, security, documentation, reconciliation, and transfer of controlled substances in accordance with department policy, Medical Director requirements, and applicable law.
• Maintain required licenses and certifications; participate in continuing education, quality assurance / improvement, case review, skills verification, and assigned training.
• Follow infection-control, scene-safety, PPE, and post-exposure / decontamination (cancer-reduction) protocols.
• Perform routine unit, station, inventory, cleaning, readiness, administrative, training, public-education, community-health, special-event, emergency-activation, mass-casualty, disaster-response, mutual-aid, and other support duties within the employee's training and scope of practice.
• Regular attendance required, including the ability to work assigned schedules that may include 12-hour or 24-hour shifts, rotating assignments, weekends, holidays, mandatory training, overtime, emergency callbacks, and schedule modifications based on operational needs.

What You Bring to the Role:

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED, and completion of an accredited Paramedic education program.
• No experience required. Prior experience in the emergency medical field preferred.
• Current Texas DSHS Paramedic certification or license and current National Registry Paramedic certification are required at the time of appointment; both must be maintained throughout employment.
• Current National Registry Paramedic certification, maintained throughout employment.
• Valid Texas driver license with an acceptable driving record and eligibility to operate City vehicles.
• Current AHA BLS Provider at the time of appointment or before release from the CHFD field-training process.
• NIMS / ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 required within six months of hire.
• Successfully complete the CHFD field-training and credentialing process, including all examinations, skills verification, and requirements established by the EMS System Medical Director and BioTel.
• Successfully complete the CHFD emergency-vehicle operations course during the field-training process.
