Job description

Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
Location: West Michigan (on the Kalamazoo River)

Are you passionate about designing industrial control systems and working on complex automation projects? Our client, a rapidly growing system integrator and panel builder in West Michigan, is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join their engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on industrial automation, instrumentation, and electrical control panel design while collaborating with experienced engineers on projects that support a wide range of industrial processes. If you enjoy solving technical challenges and seeing your designs come to life in the field, this role offers both variety and career growth.

What You'll Do

  • Design industrial control panels that meet UL508A and UL698 standards
  • Select instrumentation, components, and control system hardware to meet project requirements
  • Prepare design documentation and technical submittals for customer approval
  • Develop operation and maintenance manuals for completed systems
  • Work closely with drafting teams to produce complete and accurate electrical designs
  • Support engineering teams with project specifications, estimates, and proposal development
  • Maintain or obtain certification as a UL Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR)

What You Bring

  • Experience with electrical control systems or integrated industrial processes
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and measurement technologies
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or the ability to quickly become proficient
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites when required
