Title: VMware Architect Location: Irving, TX (Onsite) Duration: Full Time Permanent Job Description: The VMware Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise virtualization, private cloud, and hybrid cloud solutions. The role provides technical leadership for VMware platforms, ensuring scalability, security, high availability, performance optimization, and alignment with business objectives. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design Design and implement VMware-based infrastructure solutions using: VMware vSphere VMWare ESXi vCenter VMware Aria (vRealize) VMware Horizon VDI VMware NSX-T VMware HCX VCF Develop reference architectures, standards, and best practices for virtualization platforms. Define infrastructure roadmaps and technology modernization strategies. Lead capacity planning, performance engineering, and infrastructure lifecycle management. VMware Platform Management Architect and optimize: o ESXi clusters o Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) o High Availability (HA) o Storage architectures (SAN/NAS/NFS/iSCSI) o Distributed Virtual Switches (vDS) Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery and resiliency designs. Design secure multi-site and hybrid cloud deployments. Cloud & Automation Design integration with: Azure VMware Solution. VMware Cloud. Private Cloud platforms. Develop automation using: o PowerCLI o PowerShell o Python o Infrastructure-as-Code tools Drive self-service provisioning and orchestration initiatives. Security & Compliance Design secure virtualization environments. Implement: VMware NSX micro-segmentation Virtual networking security Identity integration Compliance controls Ensure adherence to enterprise security standards. Operations & Governance Provide L3/L4 technical leadership and escalation support. Conduct architecture reviews and technical governance sessions. Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents. Participate in Change, Incident, Problem, and Capacity Management processes. Collaborate with server, network, storage, cloud, and security teams. Stakeholder Management Work with business and application teams to understand infrastructure requirements. Present architecture solutions to senior leadership and customers. Mentor engineers and administrators on VMware technologies. Required Skills: VMware Technologies VMware vSphere ESXi vCenter Server VMware Horizon VMware NSX-T VMware HCX VMware Aria Suite (vRealize) VCF Infrastructure Technologies Windows Server Linux Administration Active Directory SAN/NAS Storage Data Center Networking DNS, DHCP, Load Balancers Automation PowerCLI PowerShell Python Ansible (preferred) Terraform (preferred) Cloud Platforms Hybrid Cloud Architectures Experience Requirements 8–15+ years in Infrastructure/Virtualization Engineering. 5+ years in VMware Architecture or Solution Design. Experience managing large enterprise VMware environments. Proven experience in migration, upgrade, consolidation, and optimization projects. Experience with performance tuning and capacity management. Preferred Certifications VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP). VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX). VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV). VMware NSX Certification. ITIL Foundation.
