Role: senior VMware infrastructure architect/consultant
Location: Remote
 
VCF Generalist:
We are seeking a senior VMware infrastructure consultant with broad expertise across VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), NSX, vSAN, vSphere operations, and infrastructure automation.
This role is focused on VMware infrastructure architecture, lifecycle management, operational support, automation, and modernization initiatives across enterprise virtualization platforms.
The ideal candidate is a strong VCF generalist capable of supporting architecture, implementation, operational troubleshooting, and automation initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities
•            Design, deploy, and support VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments
•            Manage and optimize:
o            vSphere
o            NSX
o            vSAN
o            VMware Aria / vRealize platforms
•            Support VCF lifecycle management, upgrades, and operational health
•            Design and implement infrastructure automation solutions
•            Configure and support VMware networking and micro-segmentation solutions
•            Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational tooling
•            Troubleshoot complex virtualization and infrastructure issues
•            Support disaster recovery, migration, and modernization initiatives
•            Provide operational guidance and infrastructure best practices
 
Required Qualifications
•            Strong experience with:
o            VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
o            vSphere
o            NSX
o            vSAN
•            Experience with VMware operations and infrastructure lifecycle management
•            Strong troubleshooting and operational support experience
•            Experience with automation and scripting tools
•            Experience supporting enterprise virtualized environments
 
Preferred Skills
•            Experience with:
o            VMware Aria Suite
o            VCF/vRealize Operations
o            VCF/vRealize Automation
o            Log Insight
•            Experience with:
o            Terraform
o            PowerCLI
o            Ansible
o            Infrastructure as Code
•            Experience with:
o            AVI Load Balancer / NSX ALB
o            VxRail
o            Hyper-converged infrastructure
•            Kubernetes platform familiarity is a plus
•            Experience with migrations and modernization initiatives is a plus
 
Preferred Certifications
•            VMware VCP-VCF
•            VMware VCP-NV
•            VMware VCP-DCV
•            VMware VCAP certifications preferred
 
This person is essentially a senior VMware infrastructure architect/consultant who helps enterprise clients design, maintain, modernize, and automate their VMware environments.
In practical terms, they would be responsible for things like:
 
  • Designing VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments for enterprise clients
  • Supporting and troubleshooting large VMware infrastructures
  • Managing virtualization platforms including:
  • vSphere (virtual machines and hosts)
  • NSX (network virtualization and segmentation)
  • vSAN (storage virtualization)
  • VMware Aria/vRealize tools (monitoring and automation)
  • Performing upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of VMware platforms
  • Automating infrastructure tasks using tools like Terraform, PowerCLI, and Ansible
  • Helping clients modernize or migrate infrastructure environments
  • Supporting disaster recovery and operational stability initiatives
  • Advising clients and internal solution teams on VMware best practices and architecture decisions

  • Work with solution architects and engineering teams
  • Participate in client discussions
  • Recommend infrastructure approaches
  • Solve complex enterprise virtualization issues
  • Guide modernization and automation strategies
