A Visual Project Manager is a professional who oversees projects with a strong emphasis on visual communication, design elements, and creative workflows. They coordinate teams, timelines, and resources to ensure visual projects—such as graphic design, multimedia, or branding initiatives—are delivered on time and meet client expectations. Visual Project Managers bridge the gap between creative and operational teams, using tools and methodologies that help visualize progress, tasks, and project goals. Their role often includes managing budgets, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring that visual standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

How does a Visual Project Manager typically collaborate with creative teams during a project lifecycle?

Visual Project Managers work closely with designers, illustrators, and other creative professionals to ensure that project objectives align with visual standards and brand guidelines. They facilitate regular check-ins, provide clear briefs, and help translate client or stakeholder feedback into actionable tasks for the creative team. This role often serves as the communication bridge between creative staff and other departments, helping to resolve challenges related to timelines, resources, and creative direction. Effective collaboration is essential for delivering cohesive visual projects on schedule and within scope.

  • Coordinate content production workflows across cinematics/video (pre through post) and interactive production (waterfall, hybrid, agile + QA).

  • Monitor project health: track labor costs, expenditures, timelines, deliverables, and flag risks before they escape.

  • Manage external contractors to scale production as needed.

  • Synthesize meeting notes into organized tasks and action items.

  • Support internal initiatives (marketing, office ops, R&D).

  • Embody team values: active listening, collaboration, empathy, and team-first thinking.

Minimum Requirements

  • Exceptional communication, emotional intelligence, and documentation skills.

  • Local to Dallas area with ability to work onsite at 900lbs' Dallas office when it is required.

Additional Requirements

  • Translate complex requirements into clear project plans and timelines that align internal workflows with client expectations.

  • Proficiency in project management software (we use ClickUp, but experience with similar tools like JIRA, Trello, or Monday works too).

  • Willingness and aptitude to learn technical production pipelines for video and software development

  • Thrives in a deadline-driven environment, excellent time management with the ability to prioritize and adapt to shifting requirements.

  • Strong focus and self-direction when working remotely.

  • Flexibility: some project needs fall outside standard 8:30-5:30 hours, and occasional evening or weekend work is expected.

  • Exceptional written communication and documentation skills.

  • Proactive self-learner with a research-first mindset.

  • Strong interpersonal skills: active listening, empathy, collaboration.
