SAS ASL Interpreters receive technical and functional direction from the SAS Interpreting Services Specialist. SAS ASL Interpreters will provide interpreting services for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Interpreting/Transliterating Level 0This is a mentoring level.

Required: High School Diploma and completion of an ASL Ethics Course. Preferred: Completion of an Interpreter Training Program.Interpreting/Transliterating Level ILevel One requires a minimum of 0-2 yrs of experience, a High School Diploma, completion of an ASL Ethics Course, and an ASL Interpreting evaluation. Completion of an Interpreter Training Program is preferred

Interpreting/Transliterating Level IILevel Two requires a minimum of 2-4 yrs of experience, a High School Diploma, completion of an ASL Ethics Course, and an ASL Interpreting evaluation. Completion of an Interpreter Training Program is preferred.Interpreting/Transliterating Level IIILevel Three requires a minimum of 4-5 years of experience, a High School Diploma, completion of an ASL Ethics Course, and an ASL Interpreting evaluation. Completion of an Interpreter Training Program is preferred

Interpreting/Transliterating Level IVLevel Four requires a minimum of 5-6 years of experience, a High School Diploma, completion of an ASL Ethics Course, and an ASL Interpreting evaluation. Completion of an Interpreter Training Program is preferred.Interpreting/Transliterating Level VLevel Five requires a minimum of a RID Certification, or completion of RID written test and an ASL Interpreting evaluation, or EIPA Level 4/5 and an ASL Interpreting evaluation. Exceptions to minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the hiring department/authority
