THE JOB:

The Director of Visual Production is the senior leader responsible for the quality, growth, and technical excellence of MGM Resorts' in-house visual media team. This person leads videographers, photographers, editors, and retouchers, ensuring that visual content is executed at a high level across campaigns, property content, and operational needs. They partner with producers and creative leadership to turn ideas into well-executed visual work, while serving as the department's strongest authority on media production craft, on-set execution, and post-production quality.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Craft Leadership & Visual Strategy: Serve as the senior visual authority for the department, establishing the creative bar, look, and feel for all video and photography content across MGM Resorts' brands and properties
  • Team Development & Mentorship: Actively mentor and elevate a dedicated team of visual specialists (videographers, photographers, editors, retouchers), coaching them on shooting techniques, storytelling, creative consistency, and finishing skills
  • On-Set Direction & Execution: Act as a senior leader on shoots to direct visual execution, shape lighting and camera setups, guide crews, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure captured material is optimized for post-production
  • Post-Production Oversight: Review edits, still selects, retouching, color correction, and final outputs with a highly developed critical eye, providing actionable feedback to refine the work and maintain brand alignment
  • Workflow, Standards & Studio Management: Establish and enforce technical standards for capture, file structure, and edit handoffs, while concurrently managing capital expenditures for camera gear and overseeing physical studio spaces
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Director of Production, producers, and creative leaders to translate creative briefs into realistic visual execution plans, ensuring technical considerations are built into project scopes
  • External Partner Alignment: Guide and collaborate with external directors, freelance crews, and production houses on large-scale shoots to ensure their delivered output matches the internal team's high quality and brand standards
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional bringing over eight years of required experience in visual media production, expertly navigating video, photography, and post-production.
  • Ideally holding a bachelor's degree, this individual is also a proven leader with at least four years of dedicated management experience overseeing visual specialists and media execution teams.
  • To thrive in our dynamic environment and deliver premier standards, the candidate must possess a required background working within an internal creative agency, a large matrixed organization, or a high-volume production studio, demonstrating the capability to drive operational excellence and lead high-performing teams.
