Job description

Who We Are:

The Gill Corporation-Maryland has long been a leader in providing high-quality, lightweight structural core materials to the aerospace, marine, construction, rail, and industrial markets. We specialize in a wide variety of structural honeycomb core materials. By utilizing broad engineering expertise along with sophisticated 5-axis CNC machining and special processing, we have the ability to deliver solutions that are responsive to customer needs.

Compensation for this role: $22.00 to $28.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus $2.00/hr shift differential

Shift: 2nd - Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

Summary:

Maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, recording quality results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Approve receiving inspection of materials supplied by sub-tier suppliers used to produce finished product
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections for in-process, completed parts and core blanket assemblies in accordance with The Gill Corporation and/or customer specifications
  • Understand and follow internal inspection procedures and maintain inspection records
  • Utilize a variety of inspector tools to include calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, scales, and protractors
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Perform First Piece, Lot and Final inspections against customer requirements
  • Conduct in-depth review and be able to properly interpret acceptance criteria in accordance with customer purchase order and specifications, including industry standards
  • Properly tag, label and segregate nonconforming material and generate non-conformance reports
  • Process the release and transfer of accepted product into MRP database (SAP)
  • Perform First Article inspections in accordance with AS9102 standard
  • Compile and confirm the accuracy of customer required shipment paperwork
  • Work in a safe manner following all departmental and plant safety rules. Report any unsafe work conditions to Safety Manager, supervisor, or management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of an MRP system and Microsoft Office (Access, Word, and Excel).
  • Acceptable vision test results.
  • Must have English reading, writing and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, write, and understand and communicate the company operating procedures and policies.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; stoop; bend; balance; kneel; climb; crouch; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands, and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.
