Overview

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer 

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $92,000-$130,000/yr Depending on experience and level

We currently have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to provide both manufacturing and industrial engineering support at our Torrance, California location.  In this multi-faceted position, you will provide operational support to our Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) manufacturing areas and help maintain flow on the production floor.  You'll work with area management to drive continuous improvement projects for manufacturing by developing new assembly processes and systems to eliminate waste, streamline processes, and reduce cost.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining manufacturing documents: work instructions, routers, in-process data capture documents, bill of materials, etc.
  • Support the design and implementation of tooling and fixtures used in production and internal development.
  • Support production line technical issues.
  • Provide training to production personnel.
  • Implement and analyze manufacturing plans and projects.
  • Design, develop and transfer manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems.
  • Develop manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes.
  • Interface with engineering in coordinating the release of new products 
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  • Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze design issues and develop tooling concepts in real time is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to capture and analyze data related to yield and cycle time is required. 
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Requires the ability to work in a fast-moving environment under tight schedules and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
  • Must be able to perform technical problem-solving and work closely with production personnel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to create and update assembly instructions and in-process record forms is required.
Qualifications

This role requires relevant engineering experience that includes a combination of or equivalent experience in manufacturing engineering of PCBAs or similar manufacturing processes.

  • Level II: requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering discipline.
  • Level III: requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering discipline.
  • Level IV: requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering discipline.
    • Knowledge of joining processes, such as brazing and/or welding, is required.
    • Knowledge of assembly processes, tooling, and print reading (GD&T) are required.
    • Knowledge of bills of material, routings and assembly instruction development are required.
    • Knowledge of computer programming languages (example: MATLAB, Visual Basic, CREO Parametric, Solidworks, or PHP) is desirable.
