Job Title: Visual Arts Instructor

Location: Multiple locations across the Atlanta Metro Area

Department: Creative Arts Programs

Reports to: Program Director

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:30pm to 6:00pm


Job Overview

Artportunity Knocks is seeking a dynamic and creative Visual Arts Instructor to lead engaging after school programming for K through 8th grade students. This role focuses on delivering hands on visual arts instruction in a structured classroom environment while fostering creativity, confidence, and skill development.


The ideal candidate brings strong classroom management, curriculum development experience, and a passion for youth enrichment. This position requires the ability to create an exciting, safe, and inspiring learning space where students can explore and express themselves through visual arts.


Key Responsibilities


Curriculum Delivery and Instruction

• Facilitate Artportunity Knocks powered curriculum using structured lesson plans, projects, and class routines

• Design and lead grade level appropriate visual arts activities aligned with program goals

• Create engaging projects that culminate in a final presentation or showcase


Student Engagement and Development

• Encourage creativity, exploration, and artistic expression

• Identify teachable moments and use them to deepen learning

• Foster student participation and positive peer interaction

• Model sportsmanship, respect, and citizenship


Classroom Management and Safety

• Implement effective behavior management techniques aligned with AK policies and site guidelines

• Ensure students are supervised and safe at all times

• Supervise transitions, mealtime activities, and outdoor components when required

• Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment


Collaboration and Professionalism

• Work collaboratively with staff, site leaders, and families

• Maintain strong workplace rapport and communication

• Perform all responsibilities with a focus on student safety and organizational standards


Qualifications


Required

• High school diploma or GED, College 

• Minimum 3 years of experience working with or supervising children in an educational or after school setting

• Demonstrated experience in Visual Arts with the ability to design and lead lesson plans for K through 8th students

• Experience with curriculum development

• Ability to maintain a safe and structured learning environment

• Positive attitude and self starter mindset

• Ability to pass a background check

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and maintain general mobility including walking, bending, kneeling, and standing


Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, or related field

• First Aid and Child and Adult CPR Certification

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
