Job Summary:
We seek a talented individual who is passionate about teaching, invested in student success, and eager to serve as producer for a dynamic theatre and dance program. If you desire to make a difference in the lives of undergraduate students, we invite you to apply for a one-year, visiting assistant or associate professor position to begin August 18, 2026. Scope:
The Department of Performing Arts in the Getty College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio Northern University welcomes applications for a one-year, visiting assistant professor or visiting associate professor position in Theatre Arts, with the possibility of extending the appointment for an additional 1 or 2 years by mutual agreement. This unique position includes a 50% teaching assignment and 50% responsibilities to serve as Producer for an extensive academic theatre season.
Principal Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach courses based on expertise in any of the following areas: arts administration, acting, directing, musical theatre, dance, and/or theatre design and technology.
As Producer, the candidate will collaborate closely with the Production Manager, the Department Chair for Performing Arts, and the faculty of Theatre Arts to ensure the successful planning and execution of the academic theatre and dance season. Responsibilities will include production budgeting and reconciliation, production licensing, liaising with guest artists from contract negotiation through production, casting oversight, and other duties as assigned. Required Skills:
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and teaching expertise, administrative and leadership experience, excellent organizational ability, creative problem solving in a timely manner, and the ability to work with students, faculty, and staff in a creative, collaborative, and constructive manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree is required. Candidates with a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) or experience with producing at the University level or in the field are encouraged to apply.
