MAKS Plastics, LLC is a rotational molding and thermoforming plastic component supplier for the RV, Marine and Custom industries. SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer with expertise in thermoforming and SolidWorks to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing thermoforming processes and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes, including mold development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop thermoforming molds, tools, and equipment using SolidWorks
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Mold Shop, to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
  • Conduct simulations and analyses to validate designs and optimize performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during the manufacturing process
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in thermoforming technology
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Meet with current and potential customers
  • Develop costing for new and existing products
  • Create a safe work environment
  • All other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Two years of thermoforming experience or other plastics preferred
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, specifically in thermoforming
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drafting
  • Strong understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic materials and their behavior under different conditions
  • Experience with project management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to thermoforming
  • Proficiency in other CAD software and simulation tools
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and practices
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

Strong organizational and time management skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Able to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time as well as around loud noises are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work in an office environment.
