Job description

The Merchant Sales Officer drives growth of the Bankโ€™s merchant card services portfolio by prospecting and developing new business, managing and expanding existing merchant relationships, and delivering excellent client experience.


This role performs merchant visitation, provides customer service, consults with merchants to recommend solutions, presents pricing and proposals, coordinates onboarding, and supports installation and training for credit/debit card processing and POS equipment. The Merchant Sales Officer also partners with branch and bank teams to identify cross-sell opportunities, resolve service issues, and improve merchant retention.


Education/Experience:

Requirements

  1. Associateโ€™s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other related business field.
  2. 3+ years within the credit card industry (credit, collections, operations, or merchant sales).

Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Skills & Competencies

  1. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving production metrics.
  2. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  3. Computer knowledgeable in MS Office Software, (Excel, Word, and Outlook, Power Point).

Preferences

  • Prior sales experience in Merchant Services or financial services highly preferred.
  • Principles of Bankcards, Industry Training on Terminals, and Visa/MasterCard training on products and services preferred.
