Description
The Student Assistant will provide administrative support to the department. In addition to performing miscellaneous clerical duties, the Student Assistant will also be required to answer phones and greet visitors to the office, taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary. S/he will also be required to assist with various department projects as assigned.
-Greet and assist incoming visitors
-Answer a wide variety of questions related to the department's procedures and other general questions (training will be provided)
-General clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, shredding, sending faxes and other duties as assigned
-Assist with heavy volume of phones; taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary
-Perform other such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
Requirements
-Assisting users by troubleshooting hardware and software problems on PC's and Mac's (both desktop and laptop), answering phones, replacing printer toner cartridges and printer paper, assisting users with printing services, troubleshooting mobile devices, activating campus accounts, user account activation, password resets, problems with Portal, Classes, and email.
-Assist on-campus and off-campus users by troubleshooting with remote support tools, perform virus scans and virus removal using free and licensed virus removal tools
-Conduct image back-ups and image deployments as well as work on open source software and services.
-Assist in leading other student workers and execute specific tasks assigned by Supervisors/Managers
-Perform other duties as assigned
-Some heavy lifting may be required (~30lbs)
-Must possess mid to advanced computing skills and basic troubleshooting methodology
-Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS
-Programming skills are preferred, such as VB scripting and batch file creation
-Basic knowledge of hardware functionality and replacement
-Ability to act efficiently with multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities in a busy work environment
